Google Adwords Keyword Tool

Let me guess … You want to make money online right? That would of course explain your interest in the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. If you are serious about making a living on the internet this is a tool that you definitely need to get used to because you will be using it a lot.

Basically what this tool does is give you a laundry list of keywords that Google believes are relevant to whatever keyword or phrase you entered into the tool. Why do these keywords matter?

Because Google says so … and since we are primarily concerned with getting good search engine rankings in Google and/or getting a good (and cheap) position in Adwords we better pay attention to what the Google Adwords Keyword Tool has to say. If you are using this tool for PPC purposes there is nothing really all that complicated about it. Just enter in the primary keyword you are interested in targeting and the tool will spit out a bunch of keywords that are related to it. These are going to be the keywords that you revolve your campaigns around.

But here is a sneaky little trick you can do to improve your campaigns even further. Find a site that is successfully selling the products that you also want to promote. Now copy their domain and enter that into the Google Adwords Keyword Tool … see that list that just popped up? Those are all the terms that Google thinks that site is about. Basically Google was just kind enough to provide you with all the wonderful phrases that your competitor is bidding on for PPC.

How do I know this?

Because if that competitor site knows anything about how Adwords works they have done onsite SEO to make sure the terms that they are bidding on get high quality scores – basically the terms that they are bidding on have to be listed on the site enough times to make Google think the site really is about those terms. If that’s the case then the Google Adwords Keyword Tool will pick up on those terms and tell them to you.

Just like that you can practically steal your competitions thunder.

With all that said I need to give you one BIG warning about the Google Adwords Keyword Tool … most of its data sucks. Estimations on expected traffic and CPC are almost always wrong … by a pretty wide margin, that’s why in the end you may want to consider getting a good commercial keyword tool, the commercial ones are not spot on with their estimates, but they are a tad closer than the Google Adwords Keyword Tool.

Adwords Google – Mastering PPC With The Adwords Keyword Tool

Adwords Google is the fastest way to make money in the online world. Why? Well first because everyone uses Google. This means that they have the lion share of your customers at their beck and call. If you want to get your message in front of your customers eyes you have to go to where your customers congregate … and on the internet that is Google. If you do not use Google for your PPC marketing efforts then you are effectively saying that you do not want to advertise to the majority of your prospects … which of course would make no sense at all.

Why does Adwords Google present you with the fastest path to online success? The answer is simple – Speed. When you set up a new campaign it go live (normally) within an hour. That means there is no waiting around for SEO or hoping that you might get lucky and get some traffic from a referring site. When you use PPC you get instant gratification (at least you do if you wrote a semi-decent ad). This instant gratification means that you will know within days if the product you are promoting will not sell, alternatively you will find out if your landing page and ad copy any good.  This fast path to actionable date is invaluable.

With Adwords Google  you get data that you can actually utilize extremely fast. San Francisco media buyers discuss new IAB certification guidelines at Connected Marketing Week

Some of San Francisco’s top media buyers talk about the significance of the new IAB guidelines at Connected Marketing Week in San Francisco, 2010. Matthew Boyd, SVP, Western Sales, ValueClick, stressed the importance of the recent IAB announcement of the first 16 ad networks to commit to the certification process for the quality assurance guidelines and the level of comfort it provides the San Francisco media buying community around working with certified ad networks and exchanges. Next, Matt interviews Kim Small, associate media director, Universal McCann, about key takeaways from their panel. Kim says the new IAB guidelines will have significant impact on her buying decisions. Christopher Ukko, PHD Network, said one of his key takeaways was the transparency of the IAB guidelines and how ad verification will become a more important component in his media buys. Finally, Lindsay Wong, associate media director, Razorfish, concludes that agency education will be the biggest stepping stone and how important it will be for buyers to become educated about the new guidelines, including teaching the media planners about the new IAB certification.
